Chapter 2 The Boy Who Was Not Afraid ๐ธ
Hiranyakashyap's own son โ a small, gentle boy named Prahlad โ was nothing like his father. While his father roared and thundered, Prahlad was quiet and kind. While his father demanded worship, Prahlad gave love to everyone around him.
And Prahlad had one great secret: he loved Lord Vishnu with all his heart. Every single day, he chanted Vishnu's name, told stories about Vishnu to his friends, and felt Vishnu's presence all around him โ in the trees, in the wind, in the rivers, everywhere.
His father, the demon king, was furious when he found out. He called Prahlad to his grand court and thundered:
Hiranyakashyap growled โ "Tell me, boy โ who is the greatest power in this universe? Who do you worship?"
Little Prahlad replied calmly โ "Father, Lord Vishnu is the greatest. He is everywhere. He lives in every heart, every stone, every tree. He protects all creation. I worship only Him."
The demon king's face turned red with rage. His hands trembled. His own son! Defying him! He immediately sent Prahlad to a school run by his royal teachers and ordered them: "Teach this boy to worship ME!"
But no matter what the teachers said, Prahlad smiled peacefully and kept chanting Lord Vishnu's name. He even started teaching the other children about Vishnu's glory! The teachers returned, completely defeated, and told the king, "Your majesty... we cannot change his heart."
๐ค The King's Anger Grew! Hiranyakashyap became so angry that he decided โ if his own son won't obey him, he must be punished. He began planning ways to get rid of little Prahlad. But every time, something amazing happened to protect the boy...
Chapter 3 Many Dangers, But God Always Protected ๐ก๏ธ
Hiranyakashyap tried many terrible things to stop Prahlad. Each time, Lord Vishnu's grace protected the little boy like an invisible shield. ๐ The Elephants: The king sent wild war elephants to trample Prahlad. But when the elephants got close, they stopped... and bowed their heads before the boy, as if sensing something divine!
๐ The Serpents: He threw Prahlad into a pit of poisonous snakes. But the snakes coiled around him gently, as if playing with a friend โ not a single bite!
โ๏ธ The Soldiers: He sent his own soldiers with sharp weapons. But their weapons shattered like glass when they touched Prahlad. Not even a scratch!
โฐ๏ธ The Cliff: Hiranyakashyap's soldiers threw Prahlad off a great cliff into the ocean below. But Prahlad gently floated down, cradled by the waves, chanting peacefully all the way.
Every single time, Prahlad survived โ calm, smiling, unhurt. And every single time, he would return to his father and say:
Prahlad said with a smile โ "Father, Lord Vishnu saved me. He is everywhere, watching over everything. Please, open your heart to Him too."
This made the king even more furious. Nothing was working! He called his sister โ the terrible Holika โ and whispered his darkest plan yet...
Chapter 4 Holika's Fire โ and the Miracle! ๐ฅ
Holika had a very special gift โ a magical cloak that could protect her from fire. Fire could not burn her as long as she wore it! She sat down with Prahlad on her lap in the middle of a giant bonfire, laughing wickedly.
"Finally," thought the king, "this little troublemaker will be gone!"
The fire roared and blazed. Thick orange flames leapt high into the sky. Everyone watched, holding their breath...
But something extraordinary happened. A mighty wind came swirling through. The magical cloak โ Holika's protection โ flew off her and wrapped itself around Prahlad instead!
When the fire died down, Prahlad walked out โ completely safe, without even a single hair singed! He was smiling and chanting Vishnu's name.
Holika, who had tried to harm an innocent boy, had been burned by her own fire.
The festival of Holi โ full of colours and joy โ comes from this very story! The night before Holi is called "Holika Dahan," where people light bonfires to remember the victory of good over evil. ๐
Chapter 5 The Pillar Roars โ Narasimha Appears! ๐ฆโก
Hiranyakashyap was now absolutely furious. His eyes blazed with anger. He stomped toward Prahlad, raised his fist, and roared:
The demon king screamed โ "WHERE is this Vishnu you keep talking about?! Is He in this pillar?! Is He in THIS STONE PILLAR?! SHOW ME! OR I WILL DESTROY YOU!!"
And he raised his mighty fist and SMASHED the great stone pillar of his palace!
BOOM! CRACK! ROAAAAR!!! ๐ฆ
The palace shook. The walls trembled. And from inside the shattered pillar โ in an explosion of light, dust, and thunder โ emerged the most magnificent, awe-inspiring form anyone had ever seen:
Narasimha โ Lord Vishnu himself, in the form of a being who was half-lion and half-man! His golden mane blazed like the sun. His roar shook the heavens. His eyes burned with divine fury.
Hiranyakashyap trembled for the very first time in his life.
๐คฏ The Boon was Perfectly Broken! Remember the boon? No man or animal โ but Narasimha was BOTH! Not inside, not outside โ so Narasimha carried the king to the threshold (the doorstep)! Not day, not night โ it was twilight! Not on ground, not in sky โ Narasimha held him on his lap! Not by any weapon โ only sharp fingernails were used! Every condition was met โ perfectly! ๐คฉ
At the threshold of the palace, as the golden light of dusk hung between day and night, Narasimha sat down and placed the demon king across his lap. With his divine lion claws, he defeated the evil king โ and the whole universe breathed again in peace. โฎ๏ธ
Chapter 6 Prahlad Becomes King โ and Rules with Love ๐
After the evil king was defeated, Lord Narasimha's anger slowly calmed โ soothed by the prayers and gentle touch of little Prahlad himself. The boy wasn't afraid. He walked up to the great lion-god with folded hands and bowed with love.
Narasimha looked at Prahlad with eyes full of tenderness and said:
Lord Narasimha said with love โ "Dear Prahlad, ask for whatever you desire. You have been the most devoted, bravest child. The entire universe is proud of you."
Prahlad replied humbly โ "My Lord, I ask for nothing for myself. I only pray that my father โ despite all his mistakes โ may find peace and your grace. And please, let me always remember You, and always love all living beings."
The gods in heaven showered flowers. The whole universe sang in joy! ๐บ๐บ๐บ
Prahlad became the new king. And he ruled very differently from his father โ with kindness, fairness, and love. Everyone โ humans, animals, even the trees and rivers โ felt happy and safe under his gentle rule.
And Prahlad never, ever stopped chanting Lord Vishnu's name. Every morning, every evening โ his heart was always full of gratitude and devotion. ๐
โจ The Lesson of This Story โจ "When your heart is pure and filled with love and faith, no power in the world can truly harm you. Goodness always wins over cruelty โ no matter how long it takes. Be like Prahlad: brave, kind, and full of love." ๐
๐ฌ Let's Talk About the Story!
Why was Hiranyakashyap so powerful? What mistake did he make with that power?
How did Prahlad show his bravery? Was he ever afraid?
Why do you think the magical cloak moved to protect Prahlad instead of Holika?
Can you remember all the clever ways Lord Vishnu's form of Narasimha followed the rules of the boon?
If you were Prahlad, what would you have asked for as a boon from Narasimha?
